Canon 7D
Canon has announced the 7D. My first thought was “Didn’t they just release the 5D Mark II?” But apparently the 7D isn’t above the 5D it’s more in line with the D300 from Nikon as far as price goes. $1699.00. This camera is set to ship in October to the general populous. Canon hasn’t had a camera exactly in this market before and this camera has some pretty nice specs. 18 Megapixels, 1080p full HD video, and 8 frames per second. I’m looking forward to seeing how this camera actually works in the world. I bet it’ll be stellar. Also for Canon shooters this camera is placed at a point more attainable than the 5D. If you have been hoping for a 5D but just couldn’t spend that much this may be the perfect camera for you.

With the advent of high quality video on SLR cameras you can bet people are going to be doing some fun stuff with them. The link above takes you to Moose Peterson’s blog. He’s got a video of a guy shooting bunnies with a 5D M2 a 1200mm lens and a 2X teleconverter for a total of 2400mm with AF. B&H is selling a used one of these lenses for $99000.00 (Yes, that is the correct number of zeros).
